Charles-Albert Demoustier


Charles-Albert Demoustier (Villers-Cotterets, 1760-París, 1801) escritor french.

He was descended from La Fontaine by his mother and Racine by his father.

He practiced as a lawyer, but then opted for literature, published in 1786, Lettres à Emilie sur la mythologie (1st part); the 6th appeared in 1798.

This work, written in both prose and verse, sown in the spirit of the madrigals, was a great success.

Later, in a perfectionist zeal, he wanted to correct the errors of his work, but the bookseller who bought his copyright in 1800 forbade him any correction, it seems that this bookstore had stored many copies that he wanted to sell. Demoustier had no chance to wait, since he had a premature and painful death.
