Groote Beek (stream at Eindhoven)

The Groote Beek is a brook that originates from the railway line north of Eindhoven on Landgoed De Grote Beek.

The Groote Beek was different from now. He jumped on estate De Wielewaal, crossing the Oirschotse Dijk and the railway line to Landgoed De Grote Beek. Due to contamination in the barracks area, the stream was diverted along the Oirschotsedijk, Vredeoord and Boschdijk. At the main entrance of the estate, this branch will return to the original course underground. This side branch is largely underground and does not represent much more by desiccation.

The stream flows through the northern residential areas of Eindhoven. Near Achtse Barrier-Gunterslaer comes a dwarf side branch of the much longer brook Ekkersrijt. This drainage was built in the 1950s and broadened into a water section that runs throughout the district. In dry periods almost all the water of the Ekkersrijt flows into the Groote Beek. At a draft in the Burgundy Avenue, the side roof enters the depth and the confluence is underground. On the other side of the Huizingalaan, the Groote Beek comes back to the surface and flows into the Prodigal Beemden. At the former hamlet of Aanschot, nowadays Ekkersrijt industrial estate, the main branch of the Ekkersrijt adds. East of the Petrus Bandenkerk at Son, the Groote Beek flows into the Dommel.
