Walter Plowden

Walter Chichele Plowden (1820 - 1860) was a British consul in Abyssinia. He formed bonds of friendship with the Ethiopian emperor Theodore II. He was killed during a trip between Gondar and the coast. He is buried in the royal enclosure of Gondar, near the Gemjabet Maryam church.

A posthumous work, Travels in Abyssinia and the Galla Country, with an account of a mission to Ras Ali in 1848 (Travels in Abyssinia and Galla country, with a report of a mission to Ras Ali in 1848) , was published by his brother in London in 1868.
