Music and Drama Conservatory of São Paulo


The São Paulo Conservatory of Drama and Music (in Portuguese: São Paulo Conservatory of Drama and Music) was an educational center for students of music in São Paulo, Brazil. The Conservatory was founded on February 15, 1906, and officially inaugurated on March 12 of that year. In 1909 he moved to his current location on Avenida São João, downtown. Between 1981 and 1983 the building was renovated. One of the many schools of post-secondary music in São Paulo, the Conservatory was already known mainly for its library of musical and dramatic erudition, and its most famous student, the poet and musicologist Mário de Andrade, who studied piano and taught there during much of his life. In 2009, due to many financial problems, the conservatory was closed.
