Zsh

Z shell (or simply zsh) is a powerful command interpreter for Unix-like operating systems, such as BSD or GNU / Linux. The first version of zsh was written by Paul Falstad in 1990, when he was a student at Princeton University.

Zsh was designed to be used interactively. It has incorporated many of the main features of other Unix shells such as bash, ksh, or tcsh and also has its own original features. Origin

The name zsh comes from Yale professor Zhong Shao, then an assistant professor at Princeton University. Falstad thought that his login name, "zsh", was a good name for a shell.
