Future World Orchestra in 1981
Future World Orchestra was a Dutch synthesizer group around the Twente musicians Robert Pot and Gerto Heupink, who scored a few hits in the early 1980s. Nowadays, the Future World Orchestra is still around Robert Pot, but the designation Orchestra is gradually abandoned.
Robert Pot (Nijverdal, March 15, 1957) began to develop a pre-love for symphonic rock groups like Genesis, Emerson, Lake and Palmer and Yes. He spared his own key instruments and a recording studio and in 1980 he met Gerto Heupink, with whom he was going to make music under the name Future World Orchestra. Future World Orchestra was founded in 1981. They won a record contract at Dureco and took several demos. One of these demos was noted by TROS DJ Wim van Putten, who regularly turned the songs in his program LP show.
Their first single Desire, which collaborated with Bernard Oattes and Rob v. Schaik's project Limit, was released on October 16, 1981, and thanks to the Frits Spits' Avondspits radio show, it became a fair hit. >
The number Roulette was used as a recognition stand for radio broadcasts by NOS Tour de France in 1983.
Because of differences of opinion about the musical direction to be chosen, and the economic malaise that hit the record industry, Pot and Heupink decided not to continue as a musical duo in 1985.
