Medical matter

Material medica (lat .: 'medical affairs') indicates collected knowledge about the (therapeutic) effects of substances used in medicine. Nowadays we call this subject drugs, or pharmacology. The term was used from Roman times up to the twentieth century, but nowadays it is more often used for drugs used in phytotherapy and homeopathy. The homeopathic Materia Medica describes the symptomatic effects on the body for each noode (raw material in pure form without potentiation). Known is Materia Medica Pura by Samuel Hahnemann.
