Beat Dörig


Beat Dörig (Appenzell, September 10, 1906 - Appenzell, October 29, 1960) was a Swiss politician.

Beat Dörig followed education at Appenzell high school. Then he followed a training course for confectioner (Konditor). In 1940 he took over his father's confectionery, which he completely modernized in 1948.

Beat Dörig was a member of the Conservative Christian-Social People's Party (forerunner of the current Christian Democratic People's Party). He was a councilor from 1947 to 1948, from 1948 until 1952 he was the head of the Appenzell district (ie the driver). In 1952 he became a member of the Landeskommission (Government) of the Canton of Appenzell Innerrhoden. From 1952 to 1954 he was Armleutsäckelmeister (Director of Social Affairs) and from 1954 to 1957 he was Landessäckelmeister (Director Finance).

Beat Dörig was alternately Pannerherr (ie Deputy Government Leader) between 1957 and 1960 and Regierend Landammann (ie Government Leader) of the Canton of Appenzell Innerrhoden. He died in office.

As a politician, Beat Dörig committed himself to a modernization of canton education.

The socially feeling Dörig, who was active in divisional organizations and the trade union movement, died at the age of 54, on October 29, 1960 in Appenzell. Landammann Also see Externe link
