In surgery and gynecology, colposacropexy is known as a surgery technique that is used in the treatment of urogenital prolapse in women. It can be performed through open surgery or laparoscopy, also used with the help of robotic surgery. The objective of the intervention is to restore the normal anatomy of the region and to solve the prolapse, preserving the urinary, sexual and reproductive capacity of the patient. The name of this surgical technique comes from the term pexia (surgical fixation by suture), sacrum in to the sacred bone and colpo (prefix that designates relation with vagina), the technique basically consists in the fixation to the sacred bone of the vagina, the perineum and the rectum by using a surgical mesh and suture.
