José Joaquin Quirino Macelino Clausell Franconis (Campeche, June 1866 - Huitzilac, November 28, 1935) was a Mexican impressionist painter.

Clausell was from the state of Campeche in a family of Catalan origin. Clausell followed an art education but was also politically active and was forced to leave Campeche after a conflict with governor Joaquín Barranda. In Mexico City, he was active as a journalist for newspapers in opposition to President Porfirio Díaz. He was arrested and imprisoned in the infamous Lecumberri prison, but managed to escape and flee to Europe. In Europe he lived in painters circles and came into contact with Claude Monet, whose style he introduced in Mexico. Clausell died in 1935 when he drowned in Zempoala's lakes in the state of Morelos.
