Cyberman

Cyberman

The Cybermen (Down: Cyber Men) are extraterrestrial beings from the British science fiction television series Doctor Who. The cyber men are the most persistent opponents of the doctor with the Daleks.

The cyber men were originally people of the planet Mondas, a twin planet of the Earth. By an explosion, the planet was drifting and disappeared from our solar system. Due to the profound changes that this brought about, the residents were forced to adapt. They did this by replacing their parts of their body with mechanical parts, making them actually cyborgs. This also led to the cyber men becoming a logically calculating and hardly emotionally displaying people.

The cyber men are small in number and therefore often operate in the background: they involve robots or human entrants. They try to convince others to join them through so-called cyber conversions. With their hands they can put somebody under pressure and have an extensive collection of weapons. A typical cyberman weapon is the cybermat: small remote cybernetic creatures, who remind you of metallic silverfish.

The cyber men were invented by Kit Pedler and Gerry Davis in 1966 and appeared for the first time in the series The Tenth Planet, the last episode series with the original Doctor William Hartnell.

The cyber men appeared in the new series for the first time in the episode "Rise of the Cybermen." In this episode, they did not come, like their spouses of the old series, from the planet Mondas, but from a parallel universe. There they were created by dying scientist John Lumic to upgrade humanity and become immortal. This failed after being destroyed.

In 2006, the cyber men appeared in four episodes. They also appeared in the Christmas special of 2008.

In 2010, they appeared in one episode. In this, together with a lot of other Doctor's enemies, they belonged to an alliance that the Doctor decided to conclude forever because they thought the Doctor was the cause of tears in time and space. After being locked up, the universe collapsed and the Cybermen also collapsed.

In 2011 there were two episodes with Cybermannen. In the first, A Good Man Goes to War, the Doctor blows one of their ships while searching for Amy Pond. In the second episode, Closing Time, a crashed cyberspace was the cause of a power failure in London. The Doctor and his friend Craig Owens went on investigation and discovered their plan. The Cyber men wanted to change Craig Owens in their new leader, but the conversion went wrong when Craig was his son Alfie heard crying and such strong emotions and humanity showed that the machine was hijacking. Then the cyber men were defeated.
