Illusion was a British music group that had some success in the mid 70's. She operated within the genre progressive rock when still called symphonic rock.
The history of the band begins with the creation of the band Renaissance in the late 60's. Keith Relf and Jim McCarthy step from The Yardbirds and continue under the name Together; it was not a success. Then they joined John Hawken from The Nashville Teens and Relf switched Jane Relf. After two music albums the cloth fell; The last studio album of the band was called Illusion. The members each went their own way, whose main result was Hawken's accession to the Strawbs.
At one point, the original members of Renaissance again decided to put their heads together, but the name Renaissance was already sold to the band of that name under the direction of Annie Haslam and Michael Dunford. Illusion became the new name. Before the tire started, Keith Relf died in a traffic crash. McCarthy exchanged the percussion for guitar and the unknown Eddie McNeil crawled behind the drum kit. McCarthy on guitar was apparently not such a success because John Knightsbridge lists the albums as the band's guitarist. The music was not strong enough to survive the punctuation period. From Illusion, Stairway and later Renaissance Illusion continued. Jane Relf was still commemorated with an album in 2008. Discography
