Luna-Glob

Luna-Glob is a mission to the moon developed by Russia that includes an orbiter and a descent vehicle. It is the first mission to the Moon of post-Soviet Russia.

It is expected to be launched in 2018, with a Soyuz-Fregat rocket, landing in the Aitken crater, at the lunar south pole, in search of evidence of water ice. Seismological experiments have also been planned, including the use of 12 penetrators on the lunar surface. These experiments are expected to help clarify the origin of the satellite.

The Luna-Glob probe is based on plans developed around 1997 that could not be carried out due to financial problems.
