Winston Cenac

Winston Francis Cenac (Castries, September 14, 1925 - September 22, 2004) was a Santalan politician and politician who headed an ephemeral government on the island in the early 1980s. For some time he served as Attorney General St. Lucia, St. Vincent and the Grenadines and the island of Granada. In 1969 he resigned the public service and dedicated to practice law in his native country. After the constitutional crisis unleashed by the rejection of Allan Louisy's government budget, Winston Cenac presented himself as a neutral option inside the Labor Party to resolve harshness between supporters and opponents of the government.

Cenac assumed the first magistracy on May 4, 1981 and assigned the main portfolios to his most prominent political rival, MP Peter Josie. Despite his good charisma he was never able to regain Labor unity or the confidence of the electorate and on January 17, 1982, barely eight months after taking office, he was forced to resign. His place was taken by interim Michael Pilgrim.
