Nidia Amada Silvano (São Tomé, March 26, 1927) is an Argentine philanthropist and educator.

She dedicated most of her life to the human development of her hometown, being declared an illustrious citizen in 2009. Biography

He was born on March 26, 1927 in Santo Tomé, province of Corrientes being the sixth of eleven brothers. In 1945, after graduating from the National Normal School "Profesor Victor Mercante", she received a scholarship from the Ministry of Education of the Argentine Nation to study at the National Institute of Physical Education for Women, graduating 3 years later. >

In 1949 he married Carlos María Foderé, with whom he had 3 children.

In 1955, during the Liberating Revolution, she was fired from her job as a teacher because of her political ideas. It was reincorporated 4 years later. In 1973 she was appointed rector of the National Normal School "Professor Victor Mercante", after having served as vice chancellor for 4 years. In her career as an educator, she was also one of the founders of the National School of Commerce of Santo Tome in 1948 and of the Institute of Higher Education "Jorge Luis Borges" in 1970.

In 1978 she was elected President of the Cooperating Society of the Hospital San Juan Bautista de Sao Tome. Position held until 2009 [1], having been reelected by the partners for 31 consecutive years. During his long management at the helm of the Cooperating Society, the most outstanding achievements can be highlighted:
