Zygomatic nerve

The zygomatic nerve is a branch of the maxillary nerve, which enters the orbit to give innervation of the skin adjacent to the temporal and zygomatic bones. Anatomy

The nerve emerges from the maxillary nerve in the pterygopalatine fossa, and it advances forward to enter the orbit through the inferior orbital fissure. In this cavity divides into its two branches. The cigomaticotemporal branch passes through the lateral wall of the orbit, and is introduced into the zygomatic bone through a bone duct, rises and reaches the temporal fossa by means of a small foramen. There it innervates the skin of the temple. The zygomaticofacial branch advances through the lateral wall of the orbit and is introduced into the zygomatic bone to exit its anterolateral surface, and to invert the skin of that sector.
