Bernard Rhodes

Bernard Rhodes was the manager of the British punk band The Clash. Bernie played an important role in the formation of the group in 1976 but was expelled by the members in 1978. In 1981 he was hired again and remained in office until the dissolution of The Clash in 1986. Bernard is credited jointly with Joe Strummer the composition of all the songs of Cut the Crap, the last album of the band and the worse seen by the critics and the followers. In addition to his participation in The Clash, Rhodes represented London SS in 1976 and Subway Sect and The Specials during 1979. In this regard, The Specials dedicates the introduction to his subject "Gangsters" (where he says "Bernie Rhodes knows do not argue ") as a to his help in recovering instruments unjustly confiscated in a Paris hotel.

Finally, Bernie was also responsible for proposing to John Lydon (Johnny Rotten) as singer of Sex Pistols, the band that at that time was planning his colleague and friend Malcolm McLaren.

In a television interview with Joe Strummer, the frontman of The Clash, ironically, said: "He invented punk." Bibliography
