Bernier and Gerri

Bernier and Gerri are two noble knights quoted in a chanson de geste by Raoul de Cambrai.

They left with 20 mules loaded with gold and silver pilgrimage to Santiago de Compostela, leaving Paris, then passing through Poitou, the Gironde, and the Pyrenees. Arrived at Santiago de Compostela, they spend the night on their knees in front of the relics of Saint Jacques, each holding a lit candle. It took them fifty days to return to Paris, where they came to greet the King of France.
