The Caribbean Plain is located in Colombia. It comprises a region that starts from the Gulf of Urabá to La Guajira, the Caribbean Sea and the surrounding mountain ranges. It has an extension of 142 thousand km2. In it rises the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta. Its geography is varied, in the southwestern zone it is characterized by being a fertile plain. In the western zone of the plain it is characterized by being wet and with pastures. In the eastern zone it is dry, and it is characterized to possess the Desert of the Guajira, with predominance of high temperatures and little vegetation.
