Jef de Jager


Joseph Ludovicus (Jef) the Hunter (Helmond, January 7, 1949) is a Dutch writer and cultural anthropologist.

The Hunter was born next to a factory in Helmond and grew up there too. He has published, in spite of a complete study of Cultural Anthropology (UvA 1977), mainly about his native region and the Netherlands.

After the autobiographical story Domme names and the psychological novel Het Laios complex, both works published by The Bezige Bij, turned to non-fiction. In 1981 he invented all the worldly rituals in the Netherlands; an exercise that he repeated twenty years later.

De Jager commissioned histories from an orphanage, from various banks (De Nederlandsche Bank and ABN AMRO), a textile company and a herensociety. His biography in the I-form of Albert Heijn was a bestseller.

In Heimpijn he collected essayistic work. Helmond Heaven about the rise and fall of famous Helmond manufacturer Piet de Wit may apply as his magnum opus. Working Literature Externe link
