Leeuwendaal

Leeuwendaal in 1855 (P.J. Lutgers)

Leeuwendaal was a place in Rijswijk. From the beginning of the 20th century it is a residential area. History

Near the Vliet, in the 15th century, the nunnery monastery Our Lady in Nazareth was given the monastery of Louis de Leeffdael at the end of the 15th century 10-day land in a lease.

The monastery was abolished after the images storm, and the craftsman of Rijswijk got the ground in leasehold. In 1593 the land was sold to Jan Harck and he built a court city. In 1616 the area was mentioned in a deed of transport for the first time Leeuwendaal, probably a bastard of Louis van Leeffdael's last name. Over time, it was sold several times and transformed by various owners into outer space. At the beginning of the twentieth century, it was eventually sold to construction companies who built a residential area in the period 1906 to 1936. The mansion was then inhabited, but it was broken down in 1950 to make way for an apartment building. Externe link 52° 3′ 25″ NB, 4° 20′ 34″ OL
