The Uwajima Domain (宇 和 島 藩, Uwajima) is a feudal domain located in Iyo Province, (nowadays Ehime Prefecture) during the Edo period. It is run from 1608 to 1613 by the Tomita clan. After a brief period of control as tenryō territory, the domain passes into the hands of the Date clan. The founder is Date Hidemune (1591-1658), first son of Date Masamune (1567-1636). Hidemune can not inherit his father's position as head of the main Date clan because he was born of a concubine, so arrangements are made for Hidemune to keep this han from 1615, away from the lands of the main clan.
