Infectious larynchotracheitis

ILT (Infectious Larynchotracheitis) is a poultry disease that occurs mainly in chickens.

The ILT virus is an infection of the airways. Infected poultry can get very sick and even die. The disease phenomena resemble those of the bird fever. There is a vaccine available, it is advisable to dig in only those areas where ILT is found to be inoculated. The virus does not endanger people.

Since the onset of ILT infections occurred in the Netherlands at the latest in the 1980s, more and more infections in southeastern North Brabant and West Limburg (Weert and surroundings) have been established since 31 October 2007, followed by the Veluwe. In total, at the end of 2007, several dozens of poultry companies were infected.
