Julia Parody (Málaga, 1890 - Madrid, June 24, 1973) was a Spanish pianist. Biography

In Malaga he made his first studies. Being still a girl was pensioned by the City council and the provincial council malagueña to study in Madrid with Jose Swallow (1857-1934). By then, in the Royal Conservatory of Music of Madrid managed to win in a fierce competition the extraordinary prize consisting of an Erard piano.

Then she moved to Paris and won, among more than two hundred competitors, a place as a numerary student of the Conservatory of the French capital, entering the class of the celebrated Marmotel. When he died, he continued his studies with Alfred Cortot, one of the best pianists of the time, winning one of the awards and the extraordinary Girard.

Later he went to Berlin to expand his musical education, joining the Royal School of Music (Hochschule für Musik) where he obtained the certificate of aptitude and perfection, being the only Spanish pianist to achieve these titles. The exercise to obtain these certificates consisted of a piano examination, harmony, reading at first sight, reduction of sheet music to the piano, history of the music, to enter a work, to qualify it (tempo, accents, colorful) and to execute it.

He gave concerts in Paris, Berlin, Hamburg, Prague, Stuttgart and other European cities; in Spain played in the main Philharmonic societies, in the Gran Casino de San Sebastián, and in Madrid in the Ateneo, National Society of Music, Circulo de Bellas Artes, Casino and the French Circle, reaping hits, both public and critical . In the decade of 1920 was awarded with the Cross of the Civil Order of Alfonso XII, and the appointment as professor of Real Conservatory of Madrid. Bibliography
