Module music is created on the computer using codes. Like in MIDI, commands are given, but the difference is that samples are used instead of a default sound library. This creates great diversity because the user can choose his own sounds.
Modules were created around 1988 on the Amiga computer, which was able to play samples on 4 channels with its special sound chip. The module was made for easy music through these channels. Later, the file type was made compatible with the PC, so PC users could also listen to and create modules. Around 1990, this led to rivalry between amiga and pc users.
