Philippe Corten


Philippe Corten (Tienen, February 8, 1798 - Mechelen, December 13, 1854) was a Roman Catholic priest and was elected by the Leuven-Tienen district of the National Congress. Lifecycle

Corten was dedicated to the priest on June 15, 1820. He became subregent and professor of philosophy at the seminar in Mechelen, where he also taught Holy Scripture and theology.

At the age of 26 he became a pastor-blanket in Aarschot. In 1837 he became Deputy General of the Archdiocese of Mechelen. In 1845 he was also appointed Kanunnik, Archdiocese and Blanket of the chapter connected to the St. Rombout cathedral. National Congress

Corten regularly participated in the sessions of the National Congress but belonged to the hundreds of members who never held any intervention.

He voted for the declaration of independence and for the perpetual exclusion of the Nassau. He chose Charles of Austria-Teschen as king and for Félix de Merode as a reign.

In June, he voted for Leopold's candidacy from Saxony Coburg and for the acceptance of the Treaty of XVIII articles. Literature
