Stern (magazine)

Stern is a German weekly magazine. The magazine was created by Henri Nannen in 1948 and is published by Bertelsmann Gruner + Jahr. In 2012, the edition was approximately 790,000 copies, the readership area is approximately 7.4 million people, which is about 11.5 percent of the population aged 14 years and over.

International became known in 1983 when the magazine published the Hitler Journal. Shortly after it was published, it became known that it was a fake. This led to the resignation of editors and a major scandal, which is still seen as a low point in German journalism. This incident caused a major crisis for the magazine, credibility was seriously affected and it had to be rebuilt.

In Germany, the magazine is known by the 1971 published "We had an abortion!" by Alice Schwarzer. In this publication, 374 women declared publicly that they had undergone an abortion, even though it was illegal in western Germany at that time.

The magazine is especially famous for the excellent photography. Externe link
