Carlos Flores López


Carlos Flores López (Cuenca, June 14, 1928) is a Spanish architect and historian. He stands out for his research in the contemporary history of Western architecture. He was the first to give the definition of Generation of the 25 to a set of Spanish architects of beginnings of century XX. Biography

He studied architecture in Madrid where he obtained his doctorate in 1958. He soon devoted his work to the study of the theory of architecture by publishing numerous publications. The result of his research published in 1961 a study entitled: Contemporary Spanish architecture being one of the first to deal with popular architecture in Spain. In 1973 also publishes an extensive catalog in five volumes titled Spanish popular Architecture. Other works of his own: Popular Spain: roots of a vernacular architecture (1979), Gaudí, Jujol and Catalan Modernism (1982), Introduction to Gaudí (1983), Villages and Places in Spain (1991), La Pedrera: Architecture and History (1999).
