The Jewish Telegraphic Agency (JTA) is an international news agency serving the Jewish community as well as newspapers and media around the world. The JTA was founded on February 6, 1917 by Jacob Landau as the Jewish Correspondence Office with the mandate of gathering and disseminating news that affect the Jewish communities of the diaspora. It is a non-profit organization.
It is based in New York and has correspondents in Washington DC, Jerusalem, Moscow and thirty other cities in North and South America, Israel, Europe, Africa and Australia. It is a corporation governed by a Board of Directors. He claims to have no allegiance to any branch of Judaism or political point of view.
