Joe Venuti

Giuseppe ('Joe') Venuti (Philadelphia, September 16, 1903 - Seattle, August 14, 1978) was an Italian-American jazz violinist.

He is considered to be the first jazz violinist ever and played mainly with guitarist Eddie Lang, with whom he made countless recordings. He studied classical violinist and composer Charles Elgar, and played with Bing Crosby, Benny Goodman, Jack Teagarden, Gene Krupa, Bix Beiderbecke, Eddie Lang, Stéphane Grappelli and Louis Armstrong.

In the period 1935-1943 he led a big band.

Venuti gave a Dutch arranger, violinist Eddy Noordijk, the assignment to compile a hot-violin course that was named. Albums
