The Valdecaballeros nuclear power plant is a nuclear power plant that was not put into operation, located in the Extremaduran town of Valdecaballeros, in the province of Badajoz (Spain). The project, which began in 1975, consisted of two reactors: Valdecaballeros I and II, of the boiling water reactor type (BWR) and 975 MWe each. In 1984, the government of the PSOE decreed the nuclear moratorium which meant the paralysis of the works when group I was finished at 70% and group II at 60%. The owner of the plant was a company owned by Sevillana de Electricidad and Hidroeléctrica Española (today Endesa and Iberdrola respectively, following absorption and merger processes).

The CNV site has a substation that was designed to evacuate the energy produced by the two reactors that did not work. This substation, on the other hand, is in service. Among the works that were carried out on the land that CNV bought is the dam they built on the Guadalupejo River to supply water to the plant. This dam is used to collect water and purify it to supply Valdecaballeros and, if necessary, the town of Castilblanco. The lands of CNV now have an exclusively livestock use; its location is 39 ° 17'27 "N 5 ° 10'50" W / 39.29083, -5.18056Coordinates: 39 ° 17'27 "N 5 ° 10'50" W / 39.29083, -5.18056

Today, the substation of the power plant receives the energy produced by different thermosolar and photovoltaic power plants installed in the vicinity.
