David Ben Gurion's Day


Ben-Gurion Day (Hebrew: יום דוד בן גוריון) is an Israeli national holiday, which is celebrated annually on the 6th of the Hebrew month of Kislev, to commemorate the life and work of the Zionist leader David Ben -Gurion, who was the first Prime Minister of Israel. History

Ben Gurion's day was created by the Israeli Knesset, as part of Ben-Gurion's law. According to the law, Ben-Gurion Day will be celebrated a blow in the year, the 6th day of Kislev, date of the death of David Ben Gurion. On this day, there will be commemorative events by the institutions of the State of Israel, in the bases of the Israel Defense Forces, and in the schools. If on the 6th of Kislev falls on Sabbath or on the vigil of a Sabbat, the commemoration will take place on the following Sunday.
