Issuer of Trier

The Trier transmitter entered service in 1932. It was located at Ruwerer Street 16 and opened on 19 February 1933 to serve until 1935 as a transmission antenna. It consisted of a vertical camp antenna, which is attached to a hemp rope, stretched between two wooden towers 60 meters high. In 1935 this antenna was replaced by a wire antenna, which was hung inside a wooden tower 107 meters high. Between 1932 and September 30, 1936, there was also a studio in Trier, which was moved to Koblenz. At the end of the war, the transmitter's technical facilities were dismantled by the armed forces. In 1948 the wooden tower was dismantled. In 1950 a new medium wave transmitter was built on the Petrisberg at 49 ° 45 '56 "N, 6 ° 39' 33" E, which was used as the transmission antenna was built on a steel mast latticework, isolated from the ground. This facility was moved to Markusberg in 1958, where it remained in service until 1974.
