Toenzal

Toenzal is a mythical person from the culture of the Imazighen and even now there are a number of Amazigh tribes who exercise her rituals. Toenzal is made with a stick that is dressed as a beautiful young woman.

This story can be found at Imazighen, which lives in the valley of the Sirwa mountain, and even more closely with the tribes: Ait Semkan, Ait oghardha, Amadghar An Oefla, Amadghar An Izdar, Taghdoet Adrak, Taznakht Izdar ... to the dam: Sed Ahmed elmansoer and Dhahbi in Ouarzazat.

After the so-called Toenzal is dressed as a beautiful young woman, she is led by the tribes to the rivers. Each tribe should carry it to the river of the other tribe, accompanied by folk music sung by the big groups who carry "Toenzal", and besides they sing Tamazight poems related to those rituals until Tenzal to the last point is taken in Ouarzazat.

Those rituals are exercised during the dry times and lack of water. Therefore, there are experts who believe that there are clear parallels between these rituals and the rituals of the ancient Egyptians who offered living girls on the Nile. Also see
