The Canadian Labor Congress, or CLC, is the first Canadian union confederation in terms of membership, with more than three million members. The majority of unions in Canada are affiliated with the Congress, with 12 provincial and territorial federations and 137 labor councils. She is very close to the AFL-CIO.

The Congress was created on April 23, 1956, during a meeting in Toronto of the Trades and Labor Congress of Canada and the Canadian Labor Congress. The CLC's national headquarters are located in Ottawa, Ontario. Hassan Yussuff has been the CLC Chair since May 2014.

In 1961, the Canadian Labor Congress created structural ties with the Democratic Socialist Party of Canada (CCF). From this union, the current New Democratic Party is born. The CLC still maintains affiliation ties with the NDP and enjoys special representation within the Labor Party.

The CLC is a member of the International Trade Union Confederation (ITUC). edit code
