Eclipse of Mursili

The eclipse of Mursili was a solar eclipse mentioned in the annals of the Hittite king Mursili II that could be of great help in dating the events related in documents of that time. Description

The royal Hittite annals indicate a "foreshadowing of the Sun" during the tenth year of the reign of the monarch, while he was preparing to launch a campaign against the Kaskas of Northern Anatolia. Some authors, such as Paul Astrom, or Trevor Bryce have attributed this prediction to an eclipse.
