Quartier de la Sagrada Familia

Quartier de la Sagrada Familia

The Sagrada Família district is a commercial and residential district of Barcelona in the Eixample district.

It was a rather agricultural area outside Barcelona (now Ciutat Vella). In the XX century, during the Spanish Civil War, the center of the district, where there were a few more houses, was known as poblet (the small village). Before the war there were also some factories, including the General Motors of Barcelona, the SAFA textile factory and the Damm beer factory, which today houses the building, where there is the headquarters of the company. Of course there is also the Basilica of the Sagrada Família.

The district has two castellated glues, the first to be founded in Barcelona, and which took the name of the city, the Castellers of Barcelona, with shirt in red, and that of the Castellers of the Sagrada Família, in green, founded in 2002.
