Eric Cantor


Eric Ivan Cantor (Richmond, Virginia), June 6, 1963) is an American politician. He was a Republican delegate on behalf of the state of Virginia from 2001 to 2014. Since 2011 he was the majority leader in the House of Representatives. He followed John Boehner on that chairman of the House of Deputies. On June 10, 2014, Cantor was defeated by party mate David Brat at the presidential elections in Virginia. It was the first time a sitting majority leader of the House of Representatives lost a presidential election.

Cantor has been married to his wife Diana Marcy Fine since 1989 on a blind date. Together they have three children. She is a democrat and unlike him for abortion and homosexuality. Cantor is Jewish and currently the only Jewish Republican in Congress.
