Ivan Lariónov


Ivan Petróvich Lariónov (Perm, Russia, January 23, 1830 - Saratov, 1889) was a Russian composer, literary and folklorist. In 1860 he composed the song Kalinka, which many have as a Russian folk song, which was part of a play.

Ivan Larionov was born into a noble family and studied music in Moscow. He was educated in the first cadet corps, participated in the student choir, was successful in singing and became director of that same choir. He later served as an officer in an infantry regiment, and during the time of his service he composed several novels.
