Jeroen den Herder


Jeroen den Herder (Zutphen, 1971) is a Dutch cellist. He is a cello professor at the conservatories of Amsterdam and Rotterdam.

The Shepherd studied cum laude at Maria Hol, Dmitry Ferschtman and Christopher Bunting. In 1992 he won the National Postbank Sweelinck Concours and was distinguished in the same year with the Silver Friends of the Association of Friends of the Concertgebouw and the Royal Concertgebouwwork. Together with violinist Janine Jansen and Folke Nauta he formed the Rembrandt Trio. For ten years he was the captain of the Cello Octet Conjunto Ibérico. He is currently co-starring with his former fellow students Joris van Rijn, Emi Ohi Resnick and Gijs Kramers, the Ruysdael Quartet.

Den Herder is the initiator of the biennial International Cellofestival Zutphen. Among his students belongs to his younger sister Maartje-Maria den Herder. Sources
