Lascuta was a stipendiary city of the Roman Empire, of the province of Betica, which minted coins of the Phoenician-Libyan type. It is located in the vicinity of Alcalá de los Gazules, on a high plateau between the Álamo and Fraja streams known as the Mesa del Esparragal, dominating the passage of the Roman road that went from Córdoba to Carteia.
