Thomas Peter Thorvald Christian Ferdinand (Christian) Mortensen (Skårup, August 16, 1882 - San Rafael, April 25, 1998) was an American superhero, and at age 115 and 252 days, the elder man for almost fifteen years. This record was broken on 28 December 2012 by Japanese Jiroemon Kimura, who turned over 116 years old. Until recently, his compatriot Shigechiyo Izumi was considered to be the oldest man ever, but his age claim of 120 years is no longer recognized by the Guinness Book of Records.
Mortensen was born in the Danish village Skårup, a municipality of Svendborg. He was baptized on December 26, 1882. In 1903, at the age of 21, he emigrated to the United States. He lived in several places there, to ultimately spend the last 25 years of his life in California. He was married but had no children. Also see
