hemarthrosis

Haemarthrosis is an effusion of blood in a joint cavity consecutive to a ligamentous lesion, a bone fracture or an injury to the bone cartilage. This pathophysiology is characteristic of people with severe hemophilia and to a lesser extent in the moderate forms, because in hemophiliacs, the absence or the alteration of one of the coagulation factors (VIII or IX according to the type of hemophilia) disrupts the process of coagulation, so much so that minimal trauma can cause prolonged bleeding.
