The Futlyar (Fizik-2) is a new generation guided torpedo developed by Russia, under test, which is expected to enter service in 2018. Developed by the Marine Engineering Research Institute of St. Petersburg and built by the Dagdizel machinery factory, will replace the UGST (Fizik-1) currently in service with the Russian Navy. The Futlyar is a cable-guided torpedo with a terminal search thermal system, capable of reaching speeds in excess of 60 knots (111 km / h) at a maximum depth of 500 meters and with a range exceeding 60 km. The first units will enter into service with the new submarines of the Borey and Yasen classes.
