Carl Ehrlich

Carl S. Ehrlich (1956) is an American judaist and orientalist whose research focuses mainly on the Hebrew Bible, biblical archeology, orientalism and judaism.

In 1976 he graduated as a Bachelor of Judaism at the University of Massachusetts Amherts. Then he would study orientalist studies at Harvard University, where he graduated as Master in 1984. He would then graduate in the same study and obtained Ph.D. in 1991. Then he was appointed as Associate Professor in Human Sciences and Coordinator of the Program in Religious Studies at York University (Canada).

His work around the Hebrew Bible focuses mainly on a number of great figures (Ezekiel, Hosea, Joshua, Moses), both in the context of the biblical story and in the development of post-biblical hermeneutics. Another important research topic is the Philistines in which Ehrlich's interest areas meet. As a advocate of popular science, he has written several essays, books and encyclopaedia articles for a wide audience. Translated work
