Frang Bardhi


Frang Bardhi (in Latin: Franciscus Blancus, Francesco Bianchi) (Kallmet o Nënshat, 1606-1643) obispo y escritor albanés.

Born in northern Albania, his family had several members in the Upper Hierarchy of the Catholic Church and several officers and commanders of the Republic of Venice. His uncle was a bishop in Sapa and Sarda where he was also elected bishop in 1636 after studying theology in Italy. Bardhi is the well-known author of the Latin-Albanian dictionary Dictionarium Latin-Epiroticum published in Rome in 1635. He also wrote the biography of George Kastrioti Skanderbeg and propaganda in Italian and Latin for the Congregation for the Evangelization of Peoples containing information on Albanian political development, and the position of the Catholic Church during the Ottoman occupation in Albania.
