French Socialist Party (1919)

For homonymous articles, see French Socialist Party.

The French Socialist Party (PSF), second in name, is a French political party (1919-1935).

The French Socialist Party was created in 1919, bringing together the right wing of the SFIO. One of its leaders seems to have been Frédéric Brunet, president of the Seine General Council. Forerunner of social democracy, he was in favor of maintaining a private economy, except nationalizations in certain sectors (mining and energy, transport, banking). The future far-left leader Marceau Pivert was a member.

In 1935, the French Socialist Party merged with the Republican-Socialist Party and the Socialist Party of France-Union Jean Jaurès (PSdF) in the Republican Socialist Union (USR).
