Santa María Ixcotel

Santa María Ixcotel, place of quarries, is a municipal colony of the state of Oaxaca in Mexico. This town is located in the municipality of Santa Lucía del Camino, 30 minutes from downtown Oaxaca de Juarez.

It is a community that years ago the main activity was the extraction and quarry carving but due to demographic conditions this activity was obsolete and in that area they built a park called "city of the quarries" where natural scenarios for activities were adapted cultural, recreational and family.

The community of Santa María Ixcotel is highly religious, therefore in its church the Virgen del Rosario is venerated, whose feast is celebrated in the month of October.

It is necessary to make the precision that Santa María Ixcotel is not a colony, it is a municipal agency. The municipal agencies are a 4th order of government that are only found in the state of Oaxaca. Enlaces externnos
