Building of the Bank of Aragon

Bank of Aragón.

The Banco de Aragón building has an eclecticism and neomanierism style. Designed by the architect Manuel del Busto in 1913, Asturian but settled for a long time in Cuba, was completed in 1917 with the collaboration of important caneros and sculptors zaragozanos, such as Joaquín Tobajas, Silvestre Izquierdo and Salaverri or Enrique Viñado.

In the design of the facade, very eclectic, influenced the French mannerism of the second half of the sixteenth century. Its accurate location, since it can be seen from Alfonso I Street by a spectator who looks towards Coso Street, enhances the building.

This is a façade with orders of giant columns, atlantes that support a cantilevered balcony of undulating straight and curved forms, which are combined with paired columns and fajas, like those of the plinths on the upper floor. The roof has the character of a mansard on slate, with garrets in its very pronounced inclination of the water.
