Carmarthen's black book

The Black Book of Carmarthen (Welsh: Llyfr Du Caerfyrddin, English: Black Book of Carmarthen) is a script written from the thirteenth century, written entirely in Welsh. It is currently located in the National Library of Wales in Aberystwyth.

The name refers to the color of the cover and to the place where the script would originate: the Priory of John the Evangelist and Teulyddog in Carmarthen.

It is now assumed that the script is the work of a single writer who lived around 1250 and worked in different periods of his life.

The script contains works in different genres: both biblical and worldly themes are dealt with, but the most prominent are the listings of legendary figures such as Arthur and Merlin. Also see Externe link
